These Italian designer buttons are made in the artisanal style that Italy is known for.
In this case, pigment dyed polyester resin is shaped and polished into a long rectangle, with a tunnel shank drilled through the middle. Face is hand carved with a checkerboard pattern. Absolutely stunning.
 
The long shape of this button works like a toggle style button; the buttonhole size is determined from the centre to the furthest edge and allowing for the thickness of the button.
