A stunning pearl button made from the Pinctada margaritifera, or black lip pearl shell. The characteristic rainbow highlights on grey of the mother shell of the black pearl are sought after for use in jewellery, and high end button manufacturing, as in these magnificent creations from Italy.


A wide flat rim with repeating leaf/petal and triple dot pattern frames the slightly domed centre, which in turn is framed by a rope pattern surrounding a central flower motif.
